Banking Services Committee

MCBC’s Banking Services Committee, with the active participation and support of the Massachusetts Division of Banks and the Massachusetts Bankers Association, continues to promote Basic Banking for Massachusetts, a unique, voluntary effort to provide low-cost accounts to customers with limited banking needs.  This year, 112 Massachusetts banks and credit unions qualified for participation under the Basic Banking for Massachusetts guidelines.  In 2011, MCBC launched a new, searchable Basic Banking website (www.basicbanking.org) to assist new customers in finding a financial institution and bank products that best meet their families' needs.

This year, the Banking Services Committee continues to work with the Boston Alliance for Economic Inclusion, the Massachusetts Bankers Association, the Massachusetts Credit Union League, The Midas Collaborative and other groups to establish the Massachusetts Financial Education Collaborative to expand access to and to promote financial education across the state.
