Notes from 12/7/17 Economic Development Committee Meeting

December 07, 2017

The December 7th Economic Development Committee Meeting included a lot of great information, including: 1) Presentation by Mark Sullivan of the Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment spoke to the group about available STEP grants, 2) info on how to nominate a small biz for the SBA Awards, 3) Preliminary data from the 2016 Small Business Lending Report, and 4) Info on the January 11th Chicago United Case Study Event. Our next Economic Development Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, January 25th at 9:30 AM at Interise, 197 Portland Street, Boston.

The October 26th Economic Development Committee Meeting included a lot of great information, including: 1) Presentation by Ingrid Gorman of Association for Enterprise Opportunity on their report The Tapestry of Black Business Ownership in America, 2) an Update from Interise on the C3 Anchor Institution Initiative Hackathon, and 3) an invitation to MCBC’s regional meeting in Tewksbury on November 1st. Our next Economic Development Committee meeting will be held on Thursday, December 14th at 9:30 AM at Interise, 197 Portland Street, Boston.

October 24, 2017

The October 24th Mortgage Lending Committee Meeting included a lot of great information, including: 1) Presentation by the City of Cambridge HomeBridge Program, 2) Information on Paired Testing in Mortgage Lending, 3) Updates on HMDA data that will become available in 2019, and 4) Save the Dates for Changing Patterns Forum on January 23rd and Richard Rothstein event on March 27th. Our next Mortgage Lending Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 12th at 9:00 AM at MHP, 160 Federal Street, 2nd Floor, Boston.

MCBC Launches New Regional Program in Lowell/Lawrence/North Central Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Community & Banking Council is pleased to announce that we will be bringing regular programming to the Lowell/Lawrence/North Central Massachusetts region. In an effort to better reach Financial Institutions and Community Partners outside of Boston, MCBC will be holding regular meetings in this region and we want you to join us!

Join us as we kick off this effort during our MCBC Board of Directors Meeting on November 1st. You will have a chance to network with MCBC’s Board Members and Executive Director, learn more about MCBC and our work, hear about our reports and events, and discuss how MCBC can support your work to improve access to credit in traditionally underserved communities.
